Sa-Jarah by Yoss Yoseff
Description
Sa-Jarah by Yoss YoseffYoss employs wordplay in titling Sa Jarah. Formed by the words sejarah (history) and jarah (loot), this ballpoint pen and watercolor artwork is a commentary on colonisation. By referencing coloniser behaviour of pillaging conquered territories and using loot to erect monuments to themselves, the artist pokes fun at them by dressing up a Western canon icon in Malaysian clothes. @yoss. yoseff
